What is 5G?

5G is not an upgrade of previous systems.  It is a completely new technology.  Previous generations of mobile networks (1G, 2G, 3G, 4G), were all upgrades/modifications of the previous version but 5G is not a continuation of that process. The 5G network is set to offer faster connections between devices whilst maintaining the ability to utilise already existing technology.  It is being promoted that the implementation of 5G will result in greater download speeds and open the doors to wider technological potential.

Every year we are seeing the mass emergence of new 'smart' devices including smartphones, smart TVs, smart cars, smart lights, smart fridges, smart metres etc. It is anticipated that soon the majority of our household items will be 'smart' devices with the ability to connect to one another. This is already significantly in situ.  5G provides the basis to deliver increased connections as the network will be able to handle the speed and capacity necessary to make this a total reality.

The mainstream media often promotes the benefits of a 5G interconnected lifestyle, however in doing so they fail to make the public aware of the potential detrimental and irreversible effects of 5G on our health, environment and privacy.
